Advisory Teaching Services for pupils with hearing or visual impairment or with Autistic Spectrum Disorder

The service is staffed with specialist teachers and support staff whose aim is to ensure that the needs of children with sensory impairments or ASD are recognised and met in nurseries and schools.

The teachers work with children with a diagnosed hearing or visual difficulty, or who have received a diagnosis as being on the Autistic Spectrum, from the time of diagnosis to school leaving.

All teachers offer advice on strategies that may used in class or at home. The teachers of the sensory impaired may also lend specialist equipment.
