Advisory Teaching Services for pupils with hearing or visual impairment or with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
The service is staffed with specialist teachers and support
staff whose aim is to ensure that the needs of children with sensory impairments
or ASD are recognised and met in nurseries and schools.
The teachers work with children with a diagnosed hearing or visual difficulty, or who have received
a diagnosis as being on the Autistic Spectrum, from the time of diagnosis to school
leaving.
All teachers offer advice on strategies that may used in class or at home. The teachers of the sensory
impaired may also lend specialist equipment.
