Waste & Recycling Services

Bexley has received official recognition for tackling the Borough's growing waste problem and have been awarded Beacon status by the Communities and Local Government Department.

The Beacon Scheme identifies excellence and innovation in local government. It is much more than just a badge, however. The scheme exists to share good practice so that best value authorities can learn from each other and deliver high quality services to all.

Each year, the Government selects themes for the beacon scheme. Themes are chosen because of their importance in the day-to-day lives of the public and are key to improving the quality of life in all our communities. Waste and Recycling has been a theme twice since the scheme began in 1999 and both times Bexley has been awarded Beacon status.
