Enviro Crime

The Enviro Crime Team consists of an Enviro Crime Manager, six Enviro Crime Officers and an Administrative Assistant. Each Officer is responsible for an area of the borough and all are able to offer advice and assistance on a variety of issues.

The "highway" consists of the carriageway, footway and grass verge maintained at public expense.

If there is an issue which is not detailed on these pages, please still contact us as we may still be able to help or offer advice.

Anti-litter-dropping poster: a £50 note on the ground, captioned 'Don't throw it away - dropping litter can now mean a £50 fine. Use your loaf - use a bin.'Litter Enforcement

The Council is able to issue £80 fixed penalty notices for the offence of littering.

Litter louts are being encouraged to act responsibly by putting their rubbish in the public waste bins provided or taking it home.

Shopping areas, bus stops and parks and open spaces are patrolled by council staff who may then issue a £80 fixed penalty notice to people who deliberately drop their litter.

Often litter that is dropped is able to be recycled - for instance paper, drink cans and bottles. Items like these can safely and sensibly be disposed of at many of the recycling points around the borough.

If you know of an area where litter is regularly dropped, please let the Enviro Crime Team know using the contact details on the left.
