Overhanging Vegetation
Overhanging
hedges are a nuisance. Much as Bexley prides itself on being a green borough it
is important that hedges and trees on both open and residential land do not interfere
with the safety and comfort of pavement and road users. The summer months see
prolific growth of greenery and it is all too easy to let things get out of hand.
Overgrown bushes can obstruct pavements for pedestrians and reduce motorists'
visibility. Everyone, including the Council, wants to encourage the planting and
growth of trees and hedgerows but they also need to be looked after.
Council parks and open spaces receive regular maintenance and the Enviro Crime Team is encouraging residents and businesses to keep their gardens
and green areas in shape. The team is always out and about in the borough and
will contact property owners if their hedge needs a serious trim.
So don't panic if they knock on your door, it's just time to get those hedge-trimmers
out! Don't wait until the neighbours complain about the jungle on the pavement,
keep hedges at bay and Bexley beautiful.
