Waste & Recycling Services
Bulky and Specalist Waste Collection Service
What is this service?
This service provides for the special collection and disposal of bulky household
items such as furniture, cookers, washing machines etc. which are too large
to be collected as part of your weekly waste collection. Please note
that at present we are unable to collect garden waste as part of the bulky
waste collection service. We intend to provide an extra garden/construction
waste collection service later on this year. Watch this space for further details.
What does it cost?
There is a minimum charge of £25.00* for
up to two items. For larger amounts the charge is based on the length of
time the collection is estimated to take.
Senior citizens are charged the minimum charge for up to 20 minutes collection
time and larger amounts are charged at half the normal rate.
How do I arrange a collection?
If the minimum charge applies, please print out, fill in
and sign the minimum
charge form (25KB PDF file) and
send a cheque for £25.00* payable to Bexley Council,
to:
Bexley Civic Offices
Broadway
Bexleyheath

If you require an estimate, please fill in the estimate
request form and someone will be in touch with you to arrange a convenient
date and time to visit you. If the items are
ready for collection and you do not require a visit, please state
this on the form and the estimate will be calculated and sent to you. Alternatively
contact the Customer Services Section on 020 8303 7777, Option 1.
It usually takes between one and two weeks from the time you post the form
to the Council to the day of the collection. Please state your preferred date
of collection (not Saturdays or Sundays) which should be at least eight days
from the date of returning your form. At busy times, often after bank holidays,
it may not be possible to collect on your chosen day. In these cases you will
be contacted to arrange another day. No time of day for the collection can
be given.
Collection hours are between 6.45am and 4.00pm Monday to Fridays.
What Happens on the collection day?
On the collection day, all items should be left outside your
house or flat but not on the footway. The collectors will only collect items
from inside your home when there is no one capable of moving the item outside. This
has to be arranged in advance. However, the Council accepts no responsibility
for any loss or damage claims arising from collections inside the property.
Collection hours are between 6.45am and 4.00pm Monday to Fridays.
