Recycling and Waste Arrangments for Flats

Since 2004, 80,000 houses in the borough have had access to kerbside recycling. Since then we have also been expanding our trial flat scheme to all 15,000 flats in the borough. At the moment just over 60% have a recycling scheme and are doing an excellent job in diverting large volumes of waste away from landfill by separating it out into the different bins. This allows the materials to be made into something new. We are working hard to get other flats set up with a scheme.

Through the scheme, we provide flats with colour coded recycling bins (free of charge) near the front of their premises or in their bin rooms.
