Waste & Recycling Services
Reuse and Recycling Centres at Maidstone Road, Foots Cray and
Thames Road, Crayford
As well as 60 mini recycling centres the Council provides two larger Reuse
and Recycling Centres at Maidstone
Road, Foots Cray
and Thames Road, Crayford.
Bexley residents can use these sites to dispose of bulky household waste and
recyclable materials free of charge. Please note that vans, whether they are
domestic or commercially owned, are not admitted to the Foots Cray Reuse and
Recycling Centre.
Disposal of Asbestos
We accept all sheet asbestos at either
of our sites. Please ask a member of staff for assistance when arriving at
the centre.
Opening Times
The Reuse and Recycling Centres are open every day,
except Christmas Day and Boxing Day from 07.30 to 16.00.
Please note
that on New Year's Day the sites are open between 10.00 and 14.00.
Permits
Access to these sites is managed by a permit scheme. Bexley residents have
free access to the Reuse and Recycling Centres but this is dependent on the
permit being displayed in the vehicle windscreen, and the weight of the load.
Residents using vans or trailers will be asked to use the weighbridge and,
if the waste is over 500kg, may be required to pay a surcharge. Any vehicle
not showing a valid permit must pay £4* to use the site.
Similarly, any non-Bexley resident wishing to use the Borough's sites will
be charged £4* for every visit. This is for household waste only and does
not include trade waste, which must be taken to the Thames Road Waste Transfer
Station and will be charged by weight.
*Current charges are valid to 31st March 2008.
Permits valid from 2000-2002 are still valid
until further notice. If you require a replacement permit, please fill in the
request form below or alternatively contact the Customer Services Team on
020 8303 7777, Option 1.
When visiting our Foots Cray Reuse and Recycling Centre be sure to
look out for our new Waste Wall Art Display.
These sculptures were made by A level Art students from Chislehurst and Sidcup
Grammar School, June 2006. The students were helped by local artist W. M Hudson
and the Bexley Council's Schools Waste Action Club. Each frame is made from
a different material that can be recycled at this Reuse and Recycling Centre.
