Summary
What is the Erith Western Gateway?
The Erith Western Gateway is a collection of 13 sites
that are located within an identified area west of Erith Town Centre. This area has been subject
to a number of consultations and regeneration strategies, most notably the “EWG
Planning Brief” and “EWG Renaissance Strategy” adopted on the
19th January 2004.

What is happening in the Erith Western Gateway?
London Borough of Bexley and its partners are seeking to create a sustainable riverside community
delivering a broad mix of homes, employment, retail and leisure uses. The Council
is committed to achieving the highest standards of design excellence and, with
the support of English Partnerships, is aiming to set new standards for redevelopment
and regeneration in the area.
How is it happening?
There will be a 2-stage procurement process to select a developer who will
deliver the vision and regeneration for the scheme:
London Borough of Bexley supported by English Partnerships will shortlist up to six
developers, who will be asked to come forward with detailed designs.
Stage 1
- Invite expressions of interest from developers through the Official Journal
of the European Union (OJEU) and advertising.
- Short list developers down to 4-6.
Stage 2
- Short listed developers meet the community and stakeholders
- Developers submit master plans to the Council
- Public exhibition on full master plans
- Final selection of developer
