Lecture with Lunch: Casanova's Grand Tour

Venue

Danson House, Danson Park, Danson Road, Bexley, Kent DA6 8HL

Time

11am

Description

One of the most extraordinary and revelatory figures of the eighteenth century. Casanova's romantic adventures have tended to overshadow his cultural and historical relevance - a musician, mathematician and lottery creator, he tells us all we need to know about how life was lived in the 18th century.

In a lavishly illustrated talk, that spans every major city in Europe in the 18th century, Ian Kelly will narrate not only the infamous Venetian's epic life, but also address the expression of romance and sensuality in art and literature in the period. Ian will be bringing copies of his major new biography of Casanova for guests to purchase on the day.
