Lunch and Listen: The Thames Gateway Quartet

Join us at Danson House for a delicious two course lunch followed by the opportunity to sit back and relax listening to the Thames Gateway Quartet.
In this afternoon concert the Thames Gateway Quartet will explore music from the time of construction of Danson House in the 1760s to the present day. With an entertaining and informative narrative on the lives of some of the great and lesser known composers, the Quartet will also perform the catchy "Palladio", a piece of music that recognises the great architect who influenced the design of Danson, Andrea Palladio.
The Thames Gateway Quartet was formed in conjunction with The Orchestra of the Thames Gateway as the first truly pan-regional arts project and has given many concerts and made several notable readings over the years. |

Lecture with Lunch: Casanova's Grand Tour |
Venue |
Danson House, Danson Park, Danson Road, Bexley, Kent DA6 8HL
|
Time |
11am |
Description |
One of the most extraordinary and revelatory figures of the eighteenth century. Casanova's romantic adventures have tended to overshadow his cultural and historical relevance - a musician, mathematician and lottery creator, he tells us all we need to know about how life was lived in the 18th century.
In a lavishly illustrated talk, that spans every major city in Europe in the 18th century, Ian Kelly will narrate not only the infamous Venetian's epic life, but also address the expression of romance and sensuality in art and literature in the period. Ian will be bringing copies of his major new biography of Casanova for guests to purchase on the day.
