Funding
Opportunities for Voluntary Groups in Bexley
Bexley Council wants to support to the building of a vibrant and sustainable
voluntary and community sector within the borough. This is embodied in the Voluntary
Sector Funding Strategy and in The
Bexley Voluntary Sector Compact, which is an agreement to improve the relationship
between the Council and the voluntary and
community sector to mutual advantage,
and for the benefit of the local community.
The purpose of these web pages is to help individual groups to access the
funds needed to deliver good-quality services to local people. Funding can
come from a number of different sources, including trust funds, charities,
fundraising , social enterprise activities, central government and the public
sector more generally.
As you will see from the links on the left, the website gives information
on various funding
programmes, external to the council, which are currently accessible:
this is updated on a regular basis to ensure that the news is relevant at
any given time. The details given are in summary form: if you need more information,
contact details for the various funders are also provided.
The funding world is very complex, and it is difficult to keep track of all
the programmes which may be available. The information contained on these web
pages is not exhaustive, and it is advisable to check other sources of information.
Bexley Voluntary Services Council may be able to help: you can contact this
organisation at www.bvsc.co.uk.
The Council itself makes some funding available periodically and now produces
Directorate Commissioning Briefs. When funding rounds are announced details
will appear on the internal
funding web page. Directorate Commissioning Briefs will also be funded
there.
The Council is aware of the difficulties faced by many groups dealing with
the requirements laid down by funders. To help you with this process, we have
provided some general tips which
hopefully will help. Specific guidance for the Councils Small Grants
Scheme and commissioning process is also being made available.
With application deadlines becoming increasingly difficult to meet, it is
also important to be aware of the various policy changes which are taking place
in the funding world, which may have an impact on the way that funders make
monies available.
