Voluntary Sector Funding Strategy
Bexley’s voluntary and community organisations contribute an enormous
amount to the lives of the people who live, work and visit the borough. They
range from large organisations providing services under contracts and funding
agreements through to smaller organisations run by and for local people.
Its independent position and closeness to local residents mean that the voluntary
and community sector in Bexley can play a key role in ensuring that all members
of our community have a voice.
This document has been developed with the wider voluntary and community
sector in mind and it is the Council’s intention that this Voluntary
Sector Funding Strategy will embrace all funding relationships with voluntary
organisations. This strategy sets out the approach the Council will use when
allocating funding to the voluntary and community sector.
It aims to:
- Create a fairer,
clearer funding framework
- Ensure that
best use is made of limited funding for the voluntary and community sector
by focusing on achieving strategic priorities and delivering high quality
outcomes for Bexley’s residents
- Support capacity
building in the voluntary and community sector
Consultation on the strategy was held from October 2007 to January 2008. This
strategy was agreed in February 2008 and will be implemented across the Council.
