Housing Services in Bexley

Enabling and Development

The Council transferred its housing stock in February 1998 but maintains a key role in ensuring that sufficient housing is developed to meet Bexley's needs. The Enabling and Development team plays a strategic role in that it:

  • is responsible for liaison with the Housing Corporation, the South East London Housing Partnership, and day-to-day liaison with more than 20 housing associations, monitoring housing association activity and performance across management and development issues,
  • is responsible for liaison with Planning and other Council Departments to develop sustainable affordable housing schemes,
  • co-ordinates the Housing Associations Capital Programme and bids against the Housing Corporation's National Affordable Housing Programme, and
  • develops the Council's PDF Documentcommissioning brief (163KB, PDF file), against which housing associations are invited to bid for Council and Housing Corporation funding.
