Current Licensing Applications

Licensing Act 2003

Detailed below is a list summarising current applications for the grant or provisional grant of a Premises Licences or a Club Premises Certificates; together with applications seeking to vary an existing Licence or Certificate. The list is updated once weekly and applications stay on it until the last date for representation is passed, unless the Council has reasons to reject the application.

Any person is welcome to inspect the full detail of any of the applications listed. Applications may be viewed by visiting the Licensing Team, 2a Hadlow Road, Sidcup, Kent DA14 4AF between 9am and 5pm on any working day. The Licensing Team can be contacted by telephone on 020 8308 7572 or by e-mail at licensing.office@bexley.gov.uk

Whilst any person may inspect an application, licensing law stipulates that only 'Responsible Authorities' and 'Interested Parties' are eligible to make representations to an application. Representations may be for or against an application.

'Responsible Authorities are public bodies such as the police, fire authority and trading standards and 'Interested Parties' are, in broad terms, persons living or operating a business in the vicinity of the applicant premises.

How can Ward Councillors help with Licensing applications?

Ward Councillors can help in the licensing process although they do not currently have a legal right to make direct written representations on behalf of their constituents. For example, Ward Councillors may, if requested, agree to represent the views of a nearby resident or other 'Interested Parties' should an application proceed to a formal hearing. There may also be occasions where a 'Responsible Authority' such as the police may wish to ask a Ward Councillor to act as a witness at a hearing.

The Licensing Team has prepared a guidance note entitled 'Making Representations' which can be viewed via the How to Object section of this web site. It is recommended that any person wishing to make representations refer to this guidance prior to submitting their comments to the Council.
