Approval of Premises for Marriage

All premises, other than churches or religious buildings, require an approval from the Council if they wish to solemnize marriages.

Certain conditions in relation to these premises are laid down by the Marriage Act 1994 and The Marriage (Approved Premises) Regulations 1995.

This type of approval is also subject to standard conditions, full details of which can be obtained from the Licensing Team.

Fees and Application Forms

An Approval lasts for three years and the application fee is £1,725.00.

The fee for Approval of an additional marriage room is £190.00.

Renewal of a premises Approval (payable every three years) is £1,080.00.

The fee to renew approval of an additional marriage room (payable every three years) is £115.00.
