Safety At Sports Grounds
Designated Grounds - Safety Certificate
Under the Safety at Sports Ground Act 1975 a safety certificate
is required in respect of football or other sports grounds with
a capacity to accommodate over 10,000 spectators. 5,000 in the case
of Premiership or Football League grounds in England and Wales.
Such grounds are defined under the legislation as "Designated
Grounds".
Designated Ground Safety Certificates deal with safety aspects
relating to the entire ground.
Regulated Stand - Safety Certificate
The Fire Safety & Places of Sport Act 1987 requires that football
and other sports grounds that do not meet the criteria of a "Designated
Ground", but have covered accommodation for more than 500 persons,
obtain a "Regulated Stand Certificate" in respect of such
accommodation.
"Regulated Stand Certificates" only relate to the safety
of the stand and to the means of access and egress from it.
Fees and Application Forms
Fees in respect of applications for safety certificates range between
£150.00 and £369.00.
