The mobile library has a long history of extending the culture of learning to places where it is not practical to operate traditional libraries and information centres.

Our mobile library and information bus can provide a self contained and easily accessible source of information to the most isolated communities.

This particular vehicle operates in the crowded streets of London, so its compact size, eight point two metres long by two point five metres wide, is a great advantage.

The same design can be applied to vehicles up to twelve metres long, and you can choose from a wide selection of popular chassis including Isuzu, Mercedes and Daf.

The high quality aluminium bodywork is constructed with incorporated insulation in the roof, walls and floor. This keeps the vehicle cool in the summer and warm in winter.

Air suspension is also fitted to this mobile library offering a smooth and secure ride in all road conditions.

The welfare lift fitted to this vehicle enables the staff to help wheelchair users or people who cannot manage the stairs into the mobile library.

This cleverly designed lift doubles as a standard set of stairs. At the touch of a button the stairs can be quickly converted into a lift by any member of staff.

Under body lockers are built into the vehicle to house essential equipment.

This includes the electrical power supplied by large traction batteries which powers the computers, satellite, air conditioning and internal lighting.

Alternatively, an appropriate generator can be supplied, giving increased power for larger air conditioning systems and a greater number of computer work stations.

This vehicle has a small conditioning system running off the traction batteries.

This system affords extensive climate control within the vehicle which creates a pleasant working environment both for visitors and staff.

The onboard batteries are recharged overnight by three powerful chargers which simply plug into the mains supply.

Alternatively, the entire vehicle can be powered by plugging into a local mains supply.

The satellite link gives online access to the worldwide web, as well as individual library computer systems.

The satellite dish is integrated into the roof structure and is deployed once the vehicle arrives at its location.

Using appropriate software, the dish automatically searches for a satellite link and once locked on, the dish retains contact with the satellite link for the duration of the visit.

At the end of operations, the satellite dish folds back into its travelling position with the touch of a button.

A large awning is fitted above the public entrance to provide shade in hot weather and improve air circulation within the vehicle.

Fitted with side curtains, the awning can be used as an additional room for outside exhibitions or for the display of information via a screen attached to the side of the vehicle.

The mobile library has been designed to create a modern, bright and entirely flexible working environment.

Comfortable seating areas and an efficient interior lighting system help create a comfortable learning environment which encourages customers to relax and make use of the book stock and computers. Double glazed side windows combine with roof mounted ventilators to allow a natural air flow while maintaining vehicle security.

This vehicle carries upwards of two thousand five hundred books and has two fold out computer terminals.

Extra public work stations can also be accommodated simply by plugging directly into the vehicle power supply.

Larger mobile libraries can carry a book stock of around four thousand with extra space for videos, CDs and DVDs.

Once connected, the library staff can power up the public terminals which are conveniently located in the sides of the saloon.

These personal work stations can then provide a distance learning base for members of the public.

Accessibility and security are the cornerstones of this mobile library.

The steel sliding door powered by either an air ram or electrical motor allows easy access to the vehicle, while affording peace of mind when the vehicle is not in use.

The modular metal shelving system is totally interchangeable and allows complete flexibility for vehicle use.

Powder coated in a colour of your choice, this lightweight and simple to use system allows the vehicle interior to be customised for any specific purpose.

Paperback spinners allow face out displays of many titles and they can also be adapted to carry DVDs and videos.

Alternatively the spinners can easily be unbolted and removed to provide more space for shelves or display boards.

Kinderboxes are designed to create an attractive display for larger picture books or children’s reading.

The interior of the mobile library is entirely functional and modular with an integrated wall bar and shelving system which allows for a wide range of display purposes.

For convenience and security purposes, the computer screens and keyboards are locked away in special cavities within the walls of the vehicle.

When they are folded away, the tables are locked down, and a variety of shelves can conveniently be clipped onto the permanent wall bars.

Constructed out of aluminium and stainless steel, the powder coated shelves are strong and maintenance free.

The walls behind the shelves are designed from a tough, easy to maintain laminate.

A completely integrated body design allows the staff to move directly from the driving seat to the saloon.

A staff terminal on the customised counter, together with a printer and scanner, compliment the public terminals and allows the staff to stay in constant communication.

The saloon floor of this vehicle is covered with high grade carpet, but a tough resilient vinyl flooring is also available.

Whatever your customer requirements, this mobile library and information bus has the flexibility and up to the minute technology to satisfy every need.

A high concept vehicle which boasts a practicality ready to match any environment.

The development of world-wide satellite based communications systems coupled with an increasingly powerful range of computers available at a relatively low cost has revolutionised the concept of the mobile library.

This mobile library and IT bus creates immense possibilities for teaching and learning in some of the most isolated communities around the world.

All this at a fraction of the cost of providing traditional, static learning centres.
