Trees and Woodland Strategy

Bexley's strategic approach to tree management and new tree planting

Monitoring and Review

To ensure the implementation and success of the Trees and Woodlands Strategy it is essential to monitor the extent and rate of progress towards the objectives. Some policies stand alone as a course the Council will take, whereas others require action plans to implement them. In some cases consultants may be employed to undertake specific action plans. Monitoring will consider the progress of action plans and targets, changes in the Borough's environment and changes in people's perception of trees. Therefore, it is proposed the progress of the Strategy be reported to the Environmental Services Committee two years after adoption.

There is also a need to review the strategy itself: the objectives set, policies, and the action plans that arose from the development of the strategy. New survey information on the structure of the urban forest may require new or amended policies; so new action plans will be required. Therefore, it is proposed to review the strategy two years after its adoption and thereafter every five years.
