Terms and Conditions
The scheme is based only on feedback from customers. The Council acts only as a collator of the information received and expresses no opinion whatsoever as to the quality of the work carried out or the suitability of any particular business.
- The council will use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that information connected with the scheme is accurate. However, in view of the nature of the scheme, the council disclaims liability in relation to any inaccuracy in the information recorded or published in connection with the scheme.
- This is not an approval scheme and must not be advertised or promoted as such.
- A business can at any time withdraw from the scheme. All recorded information will be deleted.
- Where a business withdraws from the scheme re-entry is prohibited for one year.
- The Council may remove or exclude, either on a temporary or permanent basis, from the scheme any business:
- in breach of these terms and conditions or
- where there is evidence of unfair trading, non-compliance with relevant legislation or abuse of the scheme.
- for non-payment of any annual fee as specified below.
- for the non-payment of any costs due in respect of the purchase of any transfers associated with the scheme
- for the non-payment of any costs due in respect of any training or other Council services offered.
- Where a business is removed, leaves or is excluded from the scheme under these terms and conditions, any continued claim as to membership of the scheme either directly or indirectly will become a criminal offence punishable in law.
- Where a business is removed, leaves or is excluded from the scheme under these terms and conditions all advertising and promotional material containing any reference, either directly or indirectly, to the “What Tradesman” scheme must be removed immediately.
• Where the business is subject to change in name, ownership or operational structure, the Council must be notified in writing immediately. Depending on the circumstances, entries relating to the original details may be amended or deleted at the Council’s discretion.
- Evaluation results from customers will be recorded and updated at a frequency and in a manner at the discretion of the Council.
- Only feedback on contracts completed after tradesmen have joined the scheme will be included. Feedback will be removed after 5 years.
- The scheme may include provisions for the rating of registered businesses and for these ratings to be published.
- Registration on the scheme is free.
- Where a registered business wishes to make use of the “What Tradesman” logo in any advertising or documentation an annual fee is charged. This fee may be reviewed from time to time.
- A registered business may purchase transfers for additional promotional purposes. The costs of these transfers may be reviewed from time to time.
- The scheme, its terms and conditions and its web site may be amended or terminated at any time without prior notice at the council's discretion.
