Arranging Your Marriage
You've decided to get married - Congratulations!
But before you begin to make your arrangements there are certain things that you need to decide upon.
Perhaps the most important decision to make is the type of ceremony that you wish to have: do you have a preference for a civil or religious ceremony?
And the venue is also a big consideration - a church, a register office or an approved marriage venue?
Other matters you should consider before making your final decision are:
- the overall cost of the ceremony
- the number of guests that you wish to invite
- car parking facilities
- availability of grounds or gardens for your photographs
- do you wish to have the ceremony and reception in the same venue
Planning your marriage is a very important event: at Manor House, we aim to make your wedding day very special - a memorable and enjoyable occasion. Please telephone us on 020 8308 7515 to discuss your requirements with our staff and to make an appointment with the Superintendent Registrar.
You will both need to give your notices of marriage in the district where you live once you have made a booking with the venue where you wish to be married. If you live in this district, then you will need to give your notices at this office and you should be aware that we operate an appointments system. We will be happy to advise you on the documents that you will need to produce and the necessary fees. Please note that your marriage cannot go ahead unless the legal formalities have been completed by both of you giving notice and valid authorities have been issued after the relevant waiting period has expired. You cannot give notice unless both of you are free to marry.
If either of you are are subject to Immigration Control, then special rules apply: please contact us for further information or go to www.homeoffice.gov.uk. Registration Officers have a duty to report any marriage they suspect has been arranged for the sole purpose of evading the statutory immigration controls.
We also have a brochure available upon request. Please telephone us on 020 8308 7515, or use the online brochure request form, if you require a copy. |
