Request a Brochure or Copies of Birth,
Death or Marriage Certificates

Birth, Death or Marriage certificates can be obtained on application by post, or by credit/debit card over the phone, or in person during office opening hours. Please note that we can only supply certificates for events registered within the Bexley district: if the birth, death or marriage occurred outside this district then you must apply to the relevant register office for copies.

Currently, fees for all certificates are £7.00 per copy, with the exception of short birth certificates which are £5.50 per copy. You can pay by cash, cheque or credit/debit card. Please make cheques payable to 'London Borough of Bexley'. If you intend to apply for a short birth certificate please note that these are only accepted by other official bodies in certain circumstances. Please check the requirements of your application, especially if it is for a passport - see www.ukpa.gov.uk for advice.

If you write to us, we aim to fulfill your application by return of post - including a stamped addressed envelope with your application will assist us.

If you need a copy certificate as a matter of urgency, please telephone us. You will need to give us the full details of the certificate that you require, and provide us with your credit / debit card details (there is a small handling fee per transaction in addition to the certificate fee and unfortunately we are unable to accept a card payment for a transaction for less than £5). Your certificate can then be posted to you, or you can collect it from the office. Please note that this service only applies to births, deaths or marriages that occurred within the Bexley borough, and you cannot use this service to register a birth or a death or give a notice of marriage.

If you wish to apply for your certificate online, please complete the application form. Upon receipt of your request we will conduct a search, and if we locate the register entry we will telephone you for your credit or debit card details to take payment.
