Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategy

The Education and Inspections Act 2006 placed a general duty on Local Authorities to promote the use of sustainable travel and transport for journeys related to education /or/ for journeys to, from, and between schools and places of training. One of the elements of this duty is to publish a Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategy by 31st August each year. (Sustainable Modes of travel are defined at those that the local authority considers may improve the physical well-being of those who use them and the environmental well-being of the wider area).

Sustainable Modes of Travel Strategy details the current infrastructure and activities which support sustainable school travel in Bexley. It identifies how the Council and it’s partnership groups plan to develop this infrastructure and tackle any identified barriers to sustainable travel in the future.
