Interborough Sports Day

International Long Jumper, Jade Johnson, was the sporting celebrity at this year’s Inter-Borough Athletics Day for adults with learning difficulties, held at the David Ives Athletic Stadium in Erith.

The former Commonwealth and European Silver medallist helped brighten up an overcast day by answering questions about her Athletics career, presenting medals, posing for photos, signing autographs and even running a leg in the Women’s 4 x 50m Relay.

Despite the inclement weather, the event was extremely well attended by over 100 adults with learning difficulties from Day and Residential Centres from Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Kent, all taking part in a range of Track and Field activities.

This year’s event was sponsored by London Summer of Sport, a Greater London Authority campaign to get more people taking part in sport and physical activity. Local partners involved in the event were Parkwood Leisure, MCCH, Bexley Athletic Club and Bexley Council’s Sports Development service.
