Young People's Sports Awards 2007
Top sporting talent was rewarded at the annual Young People’s Sports
Awards 2007 at Erith Leisure Centre on Saturday 3rd February.
More than 600 people packed the venue to celebrate the achievements of Bexley’s
young athletes, school teams, coaches and volunteers. Among the guests of
honour were the Deputy Mayor of Bexley Councillor Colin Tandy, Leader of
the Council Ian Clement, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Tourism Councillor
Peter Catterall and Cabinet Member for Schools Councillor Simon Windle. The
sporting champion for the evening was Julie Fletcher, ex-England and Arsenal
football star.
For the first time Sports Development teamed up with the Woodside and Hurstmere
School Sports Partnerships to create the opportunity to reward a greater
number of young people than in previous years.
