London Youth Games 2008

Young athletes from Bexley beat off stiff competition to come fifth in the 31st London Youth Games. More than 500 young people represented the borough in the annual event that sees 22,000 young people taking part over a six week period.

Highlights for Bexley included gold medals in weightlifting, girl's artistic gymnastics, boy's floor gymnastics and vault gymnastics as well as silver medals in aquathlon, diving and boy's hockey. Several teams also reached new heights including a fourth place finish in trampolining, fifth in boy's athletics and further fifth in girl's basketball.
