Ball
Aspiring cricketer, Adam Ball, was awarded £100
which he has put towards the purchase of sports equipment. Adam
has recently helped Bexley Cricket Club to win the Under 13 North
Kent Junior League, coming top of the league batting averages.
For Kent County Cricket Club he was part of the team that won the
Regional League that qualified for the ECB National finals, has
been recommended for South of England trials and also picked up
the season's Fielding Award. |

Dean
Oakes
Dean Oakes has built on previous success by claiming
the National All-Ireland javelin title in the Under 15 category
back in July. The Championship was held in Tullamore, west of Dublin,
and Dean used his grant to help fund travel and accomodation expenses.
Dean has also been selected for the Kent County Training Squad
for 2005/06. |

Buster
Clayden
Buster Clayden has been awarded a further grant
from Bexley Sports Council which has assisted the budding wrestler
with expenses towards competing in the 'Martinetti Cup'. 16 countries
were represented at the Swiss event and Buster won one of four
gold medals achieved by GBR, who also won the team competition. |

Barry
Matthews
Barry was recently successful with a grant application
of £225, which assisted him to attend the World Transplant
Games in Ontario, Canada in July 2005, where he picked up the bronze
medal in the veterans' 100m Breaststroke.
Barry, from Welling, is very appreciative of the financial assistance
he has received - "Bexley Sports Council has always been very
generous in supporting me to attend many Transplant Games around
the world. This has given me the opportunity of demonstrating that
there is life after transplantation and thereby promoting the benefits
and importance of organ donation". |

Brian
Witham
Heart transplant athlete, Brian Witham, is no stranger
to top-flight competition and has received a number of grants to
assist with travel expenses to compete in a variety of sports at
national and European level. The picture below shows Brian (right)
proudly displaying his silver medal in the 2004 Table Tennis Doubles
at the European Heart Transplant Games held in Dublin.
Brian, who lives in Erith, has recently received a Bexley Sports
Council grant of £225 to help him travel to Newcastle as
a member of the Great Britain Transplant Cricket team and also
to assist with expenses incurred in taking part in the 2005 National
Transplant Games in Loughborough.
