Funding
If your club is thinking about developing a project or you are an individual
seeking funding, listed below are a number of funding organisations who
maybe able to provide assistance.
Funding Organisations
Bexley Sports Council
An independent body that receives funding from the Council to
allocate grants to organisations/ individuals who can demonstrate a special
need. The Sports Council can offer any voluntary club or individual (within
the Borough of Bexley) grant aid of up to a maximum of £500 dependant
on specified criteria detailed in the document below. Also below are the application
forms for both groups and individuals:

note, Leisure Services can only deal with general queries or questions about
application forms, as grant decisions lie with Bexley Sports Council and not
Leisure Services. For an application to be considered at a Bexley Sports Council
meeting, it needs to be received by Leisure Services at least three weeks in
advance.)
Jack Petchey Foundation
The Jack Petchey Foundation gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11 - 25 and has recently launched its Achievement Awards Scheme in Bexley. The awards enable clubs to recognise achievements of young people in a practical and positive way, as well as providing additional funds for clubs of around £3,000 a year.

Coca Cola Enterprises Bexley Sports Development Fund
A £10,000 sports development fund to encourage 14 to 18
year olds to take part in sport and physical activity.
- Stream 1 offers money
towards clubs running Junior Leadership Schemes
- Stream 2 offers money towards
developing new clubs or new teams that target 14 – 18 year olds
- Stream
3 offers money towards supporting club accreditation and coach education

Foundation for Sport and the Arts
This body was set up by the football pools promoters and
has around £60 million annually to donate to sports and arts organisations.
The maximum grant that the Trust will normally offer is £75,000.

The London Marathon Charitable Trust
This body was established with the principal objective
of providing or assisting in the provision of facilities for leisure and
recreation for people of London. Applicants can apply for grants up to
£150,000.

Governing Bodies
Some governing bodies have their own grant schemes that
may offer grant aid. For information about your governing body, try our

European Social Fund
The ESF is one of 3 funds to help EU member states combat
unemployment and regenerate areas of decline, there are no specific schemes
for sport but the fund has assisted training schemes with a sporting element.

Football Foundation
This is a partnership of the FA Premier League, the Football
Association, Government, and Sport England. The Trust provides financial
help (£53 million available) for football at all levels. Grants range from £100 to £1m.

National Lottery funding
Sport England
Sport England provide the strategic lead for sport in England
and are responsible for delivering the Government's sporting objectives.
They distribute funding and invest in a range of sporting projects at both
a community and national level.

The Big Lottery Fund
The Big Lottery Fund was launched on 1st June 2004 and
was created by merging the New Opportunities Fund (NOF) and the Community
Fund. It will hand out half of the money for good causes that is generated
by the National Lottery.

This programme is supported by the New Opportunities Fund
and is directed towards small groups with a community focus, providing grants from £300 to £10,000.
