Activemark and Activemark Gold

Activemark and Activemark Gold is a Sport England accreditation scheme that recognises and awards a school for its commitment to promoting the benefits of physical activity and offering good quality physical activity provision. The awards last for 3 years, and applications must be made on an Activemark form to meet the deadline of 1st November, 1st March or 1st July.

The award is aimed at all infant, junior and primary school and special schools with primary aged children.

The process of applying for Activemark and Activemark Gold can help schools identify what they are currently providing in terms of physical activity, and help them to improve the provision at the school in the future. The awards are therefore, a means of self-auditing and a development tool.

Activemark and Activemark Gold schools are schools that:

  • Offer a broad and balanced PE programme
  • Provide an environment that encourages physical activity
  • Teach the children the importance of staying active for life.

The award also requires schools to demonstrate a commitment to improving their physical activity provision by identifying developmental targets in each of the above areas.
