TOPS Programmes
The TOPS programmes are a series of 'Youth Sport Trust' linked schemes designed
to offer all young people the opportunity to participate and progress in sport.

Primary
As children move into primary school the Youth Sport Trust programmes
aim to ensure that they have the best possible introduction to physical education
and sport. Each of the primary programmes combines training for teachers with
specially designed resource cards and gives access to innovative, age appropriate
equipment. Teacher who attends the training will receive their own set of TOP
Play/Sport cards plus one other set from Athletics, Dance, Gym and Outdoors free
of charge.
- TOP Play: Supporting 4 - 9 year olds as they acquire and develop core skills.
(Key Stage 1)
- TOP Sport: Providing 7 - 11 year olds with opportunities to develop skills
in a range of sports. (Key Stage 2)
- TOP Gymnastics: Gymnastics for 4 - 11 year olds. (Key Stage 1 and 2)
- TOP Dance: Introduces 4 - 11 year olds to a range of dance based activities.
(Key Stage 1 and 2)
- TOP Athletics: Athletics for 7 - 11 year olds. (Key Stage 2)
- TOP Outdoors: Outdoor and Adventurous Activities for 7 - 11 year olds. (Key
Stage 2)
Secondary
Support for secondary provision focuses on the development of
sporting skills and knowledge and fostering leadership skills in young people
aged 11 - 18 years.
- Nike Girls in Sport Project: A scheme to provide innovative strategies for
increasing 11 - 16 year old girls involvement in sport.
- TOP Link: Enabling 14 - 18 year olds to take a lead in the organisation of
Sport
TOP Dance Courses - January/February 2006
Wednesday 25th January 2006 and Wednesday 22nd February 2006
9.30am-3.30pm
At Woodside School
Halt Robin Road, Belvedere
Open to Teacher's, Teaching Assistant's and NQT's
By the end of the course delegates will have:
- Identified specific aspects of pupils' learning in dance that you want to improve in order to achieve high quality PE
- Identified what to do to help pupils progress and achieve more in dance
- Formulated an Action Plan to help pupils make better progress and achieve more in dance

The majority of the course is based on practical activity. All delegates will receive a free set of TOP Dance cards.
