Amateur sports clubs that do not want to apply for charitable status can now submit an application for a package of tax reliefs available direct from the Inland Revenue. Clubs wishing to access the reliefs must show that they are open to the whole community and organised on an amateur basis They must have as their main purpose the provision of facilities for, and promotion of participation in one or more eligible sports (i.e. those recognised by the Sports Councils).
