Considerate Constructors Scheme
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a national initiative recommended by Government, designed to improve the image of construction through better management and presentation of sites, over and above statutory requirements. Constructors must commit to an 8 point Code of Considerate Practice that includes being :
- Considerate
- Environmentally Aware
- Clean
- A Good Neighbour
- Respectful
- Safe
- Responsible
- Accountable
All participating sites are monitored to assess adherence to the Code of Considerate Practice.
Since the launch of the Scheme the demand for 'Company' recognition has increased with companies frequently wanting to register themselves as well as their sites. This is now possible with Considerate Constructors Scheme Associate Membership.
Companies are asked to become Associate members by the Scheme Board of Directors and are companies that have had:
- An acceptable number of previously registered sites
- An acceptable level of compliance on all these sites
Carillion are one of nine companies with Associate Membership of the scheme.
Awards are given to sites where exceptional measures in excess of requirements are put in place. In 2004, Carillion plc were awarded 1 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze awards. 2005 awards to date are 1 gold, 6 silver and 12 bronze.
