The Highways Act 1980 And The Acquisition Of Land Act 1981

  1. Notice is hereby given that the Secretary of State for Transport in exercise of his powers under the above Acts on 29 April 2004 confirmed with modifications the London Borough of Bexley (A206 Thames Road Improvement) Compulsory Purchase Order 2003 submitted by the Council of the London Borough of Bexley.

  2. The order as confirmed provides for the purchase for the purpose of

    1. the improvement of the highway known as Thames Road Crayford which is and will continue to be a highway maintained at the public expense throughout its entire length from its junction with Northend Road and Perry Street in the west to its junction with Bob Dunn Way and Burnham Road in the east

    2. the construction of other highways and improvement of existing highways in the vicinity of the route of the above-mentioned highway in pursuance of the London Borough of Bexley (Thames Road (A206) Classified Road) (Side Roads) Order 2003

    3. improvement or development of frontages to the above mentioned new and existing highways or of the land adjoining or adjacent thereto

    4. use by the acquiring authority in connection with the construction and improvement of the highways referred to in paragraphs (i) and (ii)

    5. mitigating the adverse effect which the existence or use of the highway proposed to be improved as mentioned in paragraphs (i) and (ii) will have on the surroundings thereof

    6. the provision of private means of access to premises in pursuance of the London Borough of Bexley (Thames Road (A206) Classified Road) (Side Roads) Order 2003

    7. the land and the new rights described in the Schedule hereto.

  1. A copy of the order as confirmed by the Secretary of State for Transport and of the map referred to therein have been deposited at the offices of the Council at Bexley Civic Offices, Broadway, Bexleyheath, Kent DA6 7LB (Reception) and at its offices at Wyncham House, 207 Longlands Road, Sidcup, Kent DA15 7NH and at its offices at Crayford Town Hall, 112 Crayford Road, Crayford, Kent DA1 4ER and may be seen there at all reasonable hours.

  2. The order as confirmed becomes operative on the date on which this notice is first published; but a person aggrieved by the order may, by application to the High Court within 6 weeks from that date, question its validity on the grounds (i) that the authorisation granted by the order is not empowered to be granted or (ii) that there has been a failure to comply with any relevant statutory requirement relating to the order.
