Perry Street Roundabout Resurfacing Works

On Sunday 12 February work commenced on reconstructing and resurfacing the Perry Street roundabout road surface. This work is due to be completed by Easter and will be done in four main phases, shown in the image on the right, with an arm of the roundabout shutting in turn. The first two phases have now been completed.

It will be necessary to close off a section of the roundabout at a time in order to carry out the reconstruction work but traffic flow will be maintained at all times using various traffic management arrangements (see drawings phase 1, phase 1a, phase 2, phase 3, phase 3a, phase 4 - various PDF files around 480KB each). Special arrangements will apply to Parkside Avenue and Gascoyne Drive / Wyatt Road and these are detailed below (see drawing diversion route, 545KB PDF file):

Parkside Avenue will be closed to traffic at the roundabout itself but vehicular access will be available to properties in this road from all other directions. The signed diversion route for this will be via Eversley Avenue and Eversley or Parkside Crosses (depending on the height of the vehicle).

From Gascoyne Drive / Wyatt Road in phases 1, 1a and 4 access will only be available directly to Perry Street. In phases 2, 3 and 3a access will be available directly to Perry Street and Northend Road. A diversion route via Perry Street and Mayplace Road East will be provided to allow traffic to backtrack and return in the other direction to the roundabout. Alternatively, go down Iron Mill Lane or Holmsdale Grove depending of which way you eventually want to go.

Perry St Roundabout Works The timetable for the phases will be approximately:

Phase 1 and 1a – completed
Phase 2 – completed
Phase 3 and 3a – completed
Phase 4 – due for completion Thursday 13 April

Route 469 Bus Diversion

Due to the closure of Parkside Avenue during these works the 469 bus will have to be diverted.

Buses towards Bexleyheath will be diverted via Northend Road, Eversley Avenue and Eversley Cross and will be unable to serve Parkside Avenue (between Northend Road and Eversley Cross).

The nearest stops for buses are in Thames Road or Parkside Avenue (near Eversley Cross). An extra temporary stop should be available in Northend Road near the Parkside Parade of shops.

Buses towards Woolwich will be diverted via Parkside Cross, Eversley Avenue and Northend Road and will be unable to serve Parkside Avenue (between Parkside Cross and Northend Road).

The nearest stops for buses are in Parkside Avenue (near Old Manor Way) or Thames Road. Extra temporary stops are available in Parkside Cross and two in Eversley Avenue (near Hurstwood Avenue and near Northend Road).
