(Side Roads) Order 2003

THE SECRERTARY OF STATE for Transport hereby gives notice that he has confirmed with modifications the above Order which was made by London Borough of Bexley under sections 14 and 125 of the Highways Act 1980 and which, as confirmed, authorises the Council to -

  1. improve lengths of highways;
  2. stop up highways;
  3. construct new highways;
  4. stop up private means of access to premises; and
  5. provide new means of access to premises

all on or in the vicinity of the route of the route of the classified road which the council propose to improve from Perry Street Roundabout to University Way (now Bob Dunn Way).

COPIES of the above-mentioned Order and of the plans referred to therein have been deposited and may be seen at all reasonable hours free of charge at the offices of the Council at Bexley Civic Offices, Broadway, Bexleyheath, Kent, DA6 7LB (Reception); at its offices at Wyncham House, 207 Longlands Road, Sidcup, Kent, DA15 7NH; and at its offices at Crayford Town Hall, 112 Crayford Road, Crayford, Kent, DA1 4ER.

ANY PERSON aggrieved by the Order and desiring to question the validity thereof, or of any provisions contained therein, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highway Act 1980 or on the ground that any requirement of that Act or of any regulations made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within 6 weeks of the 19th May 2004, apply to the High Court for the suspension or quashing of the Order of any provision contained therein.

Highways to be improved

  • Northend Road, Perry Street Roundabout, Parkside Avenue, Perry Street, Gascoyne Drive, Kennet Road, Mayplace Avenue, Iron Mill Lane, Mill Place, Crayford Way, Byway 103.

Highways to be stopped up

  • The cycle way through Optima Park from the existing classified road boundary for a distance of 4 metres in a north easterly direction
  • Kennet Road from the existing classified road boundary for a distance of 19 metres in a north easterly direction
  • Crayford Way from the existing classified road boundary for a distance of 11 metres in a south westerly direction
  • Byway 105 from the existing classified road boundary for a distance of 41 metres in a south westerly direction
  • Byway 104 (Willow Walk) from the existing classified road boundary for a distance of 13 metres in a south easterly direction

Private means of access to be stopped up

  • The access to Optima Park (the former BT depot) opposite the rear boundary of number 127 Shearwood Crescent from the existing classified road boundary
  • The access to Optima Park (the former BT depot) opposite the rear boundary of number 264 Maiden Lane from the existing classified road boundary
  • The access to Thames Road Garage opposite the rear boundary of 256 Maiden Lane from the existing classified road boundary
  • The access to Thames Road Garage opposite the rear boundary of 248 Maiden Lane from the existing classified road boundary
  • The access to Booker Cash and Carry warehouse from the Kennet Road boundary
  • The private road opposite Iron Mill Lane between Byway 103 and Thames Road
