December 2005

Laying Kerbs at Perry Street Roundabout

Works are continuing at Perry Street roundabout. These works include the installation of drainage, kerbs and minor adjustments to the alignment of the roundabout. These works, including the surfacing will be complete early next year.

There will be traffic lights on Thames Road every Friday from 18.30hrs to Sunday night, for the next 3 months, to facilitate the utility road crossings.

Crayford Way Closure

The services will also have to cross Crayford Way at the junction of Thames Road. These works will be carried out under a road closure of Crayford Way at this point from the 28 November for 2 to 3 weeks. The traffic, including bus route 428, will be put under a local diversion via Maiden Lane / Mayplace Avenue. See map (564KB, pdf file)PDF Document

There is traffic management in Thames Road for the service diversions. These diversions will continue into the New Year.

NTL / Telewest and Cable and wireless works have started at Perry Street Roundabout to Howbury Lane, these are continuing throughout the project up to Iron Mill Lane.

Kennet Road

Transco are continuing with works outside Bookers Cash and Carry. They will be working in Kennet Road again in early December to make the connection between the new and the existing gas main. This will require traffic lights at the junction of Kennet Road and Thames Road to carry out these works.

Opposite Jolly Farmers pub

Thames Water is continuing with their diversions between the railway bridge and the River Cray on the south side. They are also constructing two large manholes in the area opposite the Jolly Farmers pub.

EDF are continuing with their diversions between Optima Park and Crayford Way, on the North side.

Piling works are continuing at the River Cray

BT have recommenced on site and will be working from Mayplace Avenue to the Railway Bridge. The works will involve the closing of Mayplace Avenue and Iron Mill Lane junctions. Mayplace Avenue and Iron Mill Lane will not be closed at the same time and access to Thames Road will be maintained at all times.

Piling works are continuing at the River Cray to construct the extension to the road bridge in this location. During this period the south footway will be closed to pedestrians for safety reasons, but access to the byway along the River Cray will be maintained. The piling works will be followed by the concrete works to the structure.

November 2005

Works to the play space in Gascoyne Drive are almost complete. There are some minor works to be carried out including the delivery and installation of the skate board ramp.

The finishing touches will be completed to the gardens in Buckley Close, and the garden gates will be erected by mid December.

There is traffic management in Thames Road for the service diversions for NTL, Cable & Wireless, Telewest Broadband, EDF and Transco. The service diversions will continue through Christmas and into the New Year.

NTL/Telewest and Cable and wireless service diversion works have started from Perry Street Roundabout to Howbury Lane.

Machine Digging at Crayford Way Roundabout

Transco are continuing with works from Optima Park to Kennet Road. These works include crossing Kennet Road, which will require temporary traffic lights on the junction of Kennet Road and Thames Road. These works will take two weeks, as Transco have to connect onto the existing gas main in Kennet Road.

Thames Water is continuing with their diversions between the railway bridge and the River Cray on the south side.

EDF are continuing with their diversions between Optima Park and Crayford Way, on the North side.

Sheet Piling Works at River Cray Bridge

BT will continue their works between Kennet Road and Crayford Way. The works will involve the temporary closing of Mayplace Avenue and Iron Mill Lane. Mayplace Avenue and Iron Mill Lane will not be closed at the same time; access to Thames Road will be maintained at all times.

Garage Demolition

Piling works have commenced at the River Cray to construct the extension to the road bridge in this location. During this period the south footway will be closed to pedestrians for safety reasons, but the footpath along the River Cray will be maintained. The piling works will take two weeks and will be followed by the concrete works for the structure.

Thames Road Garage has now been demolished, making way for the construction of the new entrance to Bookers Cash and Carry.

October 2005

Construction of the replacement play space is continuing in Gascoyne Drive. The fencing and surfacing works will be complete by the end of the month. This includes the road table in Gascoyne Drive itself. The playground will be handed over at the end of the month.

Traffic Management

Works have commenced on Perry Street roundabout to install drainage and widen the road.

There is traffic management in Thames Road for the service diversions for BT and EDF, between Kennet Road and Howbury Lane junction. The service diversions will continue throughout the next month.

BT are continuing with their diversions from Perry Street to Iron Mill Lane via Kennet Road and Optima Park.

Thames Water are continuing with their diversions from Kennet Road to Thames House and from the BP Castrol site to The Jolly Farmers.

Lowering and shaping the embankment near the River Cray

EDF are continuing with their diversions from Perry Street to Kennet Road on the south side and from Bookers Cash & Carry to The Jolly Farmers on the north side.

Transco are continuing with their diversions from Optima Park to Kennet Road.

The advanced earthworks in the area of Crayford Way junction will be complete by 7th October, and therefore, the surcharge material from the embankment between the railway bridge and River Cray will be removed before the end of the month, allowing the service diversions in this area to commence.

Exploratory works for the Crayford Mill Bridge and River Cray Culvert are due to be carried out during this month which will involve various short term traffic management layouts including traffic lights.

New brick wall at Buckley Close

The brick wall to the rear of properties in Buckley Close will be completed this month. The reinstatement of the gardens affected by the works will also be completed this month.

Once the service diversions are completed the accommodation works will commence opposite Kennet Road to Thames House.

It is intended to demolish the old Thames Road Garage at the end of October / beginning of November.

September 2005

The main office complex has now been established.

Site Compund and New Play Area

Construction of the replacement play area in Gascoyne Drive will continue through the month, with fencing and surfacing.

Minor traffic management is due to be out on Thames Road throughout September for road crossings for the utilities companies and removal of the traffic islands.

Thames Water are continuing with their diversions along Thames Road in front of the old Optima Park and Kennet Road to Thames House.

Transco/Scotia Gas Network are due to commence their diversion works early September, from Kennet Road to BP Castrol and then the area of the old Optima Park.

BT are due to recommence their diversion works mid September, Optima Park to Iron Mill Lane.

EDF are due to commence their diversion works outside The Jolly Farmers.

Enabling works to allow construction of the boundary wall for Buckley Close residents will commence on the 5 September, followed by construction commencing 12 September 2005 and should take approximately 3 weeks.

It is intended to demolish the old Thames Road Garage at the end of September/ beginning of October.

Thames Water Works Starts

The surcharged material opposite Crayside Industrial Estate is to be removed and placed in the area of the new Crayford Way roundabout in mid September.

The testing of the test pile for Crayford Mill Bridge is due to commence early September and piling to the River Cray Bridge is due to start in late September.

August 2005

Site Compound

Establishment of the site compound at Wyatt Road will continue over the next month although Mowlem envisage moving in before the end of the month.

Construction of the replacement play area in Gascoyne Drive will continue through the month, with earthworks and fencing.

Site clearance is due to continue throughout the works, completing the areas to the rear of Buckley Drive and in front of the old Optima Park. Then across the front of the BP Castrol property working down to The Jolly Farmer Public House.

Thames Water Works 1

Works including traffic management on the A206 and some of the side roads are due to be carried out over this month, in small short duration day time and night time works to allow removal of the centre traffic islands and road crossings for the Statutory Authorities.

Thames Water diversion works commenced at the end of July and are due to continue for the next 6 months, following the site clearance.

BT are due to commence their diversion works on 8th August following Thames Water.

Thames Water Works 2

Transco are due to commence they diversion works mid August with there diversion around the area of the Kennet Road roundabout.

Installation of the EDF ducts will also commence mid August in the area of Optima Park.

Installation of the test piles for the Crayford Mill bridge will be carried out mid August as well as the installation of track monitoring equipment.
