"Vibrant Bexleyheath", says Mayor
Christmas hampers, donated by Kent Food Fayre, were presented by Bexley's Mayor and Mayoress. Cllrs Brian and Aileen Beckwith, to Margaret Penny, 74, a Shopmobility volunteer since May 1997 and to Rosa Marsden, 81, who has used the service since 1996, during their day out in Bexleyheath on Thursday 7 December.
We have great pleasure in announcing that the winner of the Towns web pages, Kent Food Fayres Competition is Wendy Vincent.
The mayoral couple, making their Christmas visit to the town, led carol singing on behalf of the Greenwich and Bexley Cottage Hospice, and were presented with a mobile phone, to be raffled for this year's Mayor's Charity Appeal for the Parkinson Disease Society, by Kerry Allon, manager of Orange Retail.
They talked to stall holders at the Kent Food Fayre to learn more about how
the food was reared and cultivated.
Afterwards the Mayor, congratulating Shopmobilty for putting on an extra day of service this Christmas, said: "Bexleyheath is vibrant this year and certainly open for business."
Kent Food Fayres - Bexleyheath Market Place
Following the success of the initial 3-month trial period, the Kent Food Fayres in Bexleyheath Market Place will continue to take place on the first Thursday of every month.
The markets sell a delicious range of Kent produce including fruit/vegetables, organic and locally reared meat, pies/pasties, fresh juices, pickles, jams, fudge, freshly baked bread and pastries, as well as a wide range of plants and shrubs from a local nursery.
As the market becomes more established, it is envisaged that further stall-holders will come on board to increase the range of produce on offer. Anyone interested in participating should contact the market manager Dave Anderson on Telno 01322 311310.
