Most of the malls and supermarkets in these towns offer wide aisles, level access and a good standard of customer toilets, but many smaller shops still present difficulties, particularly to shoppers with a wheelchair, double-buggy or a traditional push-chair. Bexley businesses selling, preparing or serving food are being encouraged to take advantage of a new recycling service launched by their local council. This initiative, supported by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) and the London Development Agency, makes it easier for Small to Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to recycle food waste by providing them with wheelie bins, kitchen caddies and liners, alongside their regular weekly collections.
