About Town Safe

Bexleyheath Broadway Summer - Click here for a larger mapThe aim of the Town Safe concept is to lawfully and legitimately gather, collate, exchange, process and manage all information relating to crime. This will reduce and prevent crime and anti-social behaviour and therefore will create a safe and secure environment.

The scheme is not just an initiative to reduce business crime but covers a much broader remit. It is about creating a safer living and working environment for all those whom use the facilities within the area. Essentially the whole community should benefit by the enhancement of safety and security and by the use of an effective working relationship between a wide range of partner agencies.

It will offer several solutions to current crime and disorder problems, the collated information will assist in identifying persistent perpetrators of crime and anti-social behaviour in the Town Centre. This will allow appropriate action to be taken against such offenders, including Exclusion Orders, which can lead to Anti-Social Behaviour Orders.

All information is stored on Bexley’s Business Information Crime System (BICS) an electronic system for collating and circulating information including photos. Working in conjunction with the Radio Link this scheme becomes a useful tool in the fight against business crime and the detection of offenders.
