Christmas and New Year information

Here is your guide to local services available over the holidays.

Waste and recycling household collections

There will be no collections on Monday 25 December, Tuesday 26 December or Monday 1 January.

Waste and recycling collections have been revised as follows:

Wednesday 27 December to Sunday 31 December (two days later than normal).

Tuesday 2 January to Saturday 6 January (one day later than normal).

Normal collections resume Monday 8 January.

Christmas trees

We will only be collecting Christmas trees from properties which are part of the garden waste service. Please cut your tree in half and place it next to your garden waste bin on your collection day.

Garden waste collections will be suspended week commencing 25 December for two weeks - resuming again on Monday 8 January.

Reuse and Recycling Centres

The Council's Reuse and Recycling Centres at Thames Road, Crayford and Maidstone Road, Foots Cray, are open 7.30am to 4pm. They are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Please note that Foots Cray is closed on Wednesdays.

Mini recycling centres

Our mini recycling centres throughout the borough are very busy over holiday periods. if the banks are full please take your recycling home, they will be emptied as soon as possible. Please remember to use all you recycling containers at home.

Opening hours for Bexley Libraries

All Bexley Libraries will be closed Monday 25 December, Tuesday 26 December and on Monday 1 January.

All other opening hours will remain as normal, apart from 27 December when Crayford and Sidcup will close at 5.30pm instead of 7pm and 28 December when Central Library, Bexleyheath will close at 5.30pm instead of 7pm.
