Affordable home options and developments

Affordable home ownership options

We work with housing associations which develop affordable home ownership schemes.

These schemes are designed to help people who are unable to afford to buy their own home or rent a good quality home on the open market.

Homes in Bexley and across London are advertised on Homes for Londoners. Register your details on the websites to search for properties and more information about eligibility and your options.

Shared Ownership

With shared ownership schemes, you buy a share of a property and pay rent on the remainder. Later, if your financial circumstances allow, further shares can be bought until finally, you own the property outright. Further details can be found at Share to Buy.

London Help to Buy

The London Help to Buy scheme allows you to buy a new home in London with the help of a Government equity loan. The loan will be up to 40% of the cost of the property and is interest-free for the first five years. You will need a minimum 5% deposit and a 55% mortgage to make up the rest. Further details can be found at Homes for Londoners and Help to Buy.

Own your home

A new website Own your home has been launched to allow prospective homeowners to find out what government home ownership schemes would be suitable for them.
