Lesnes Abbey fossil pit
The fossil bed found at Lesnes Abbey Wood contains many types of fossils from the Eocene era about 54.5 million years ago.
The main fossils found today are sharks' teeth and seashells. The fossil bed may be visited at any time by individuals.
All groups, schools and professional digs should contact the Council to book their visit, please note there is a charge for this, email email@example.com for further information.
All visitors must be mindful of the following:
- you may remove no more than 2kgs of material from the site
- please do not dig more than two feet deep
- please refill any large or deep holes
- for School or group booking please email firstname.lastname@example.org at least one month prior to your visit
