Back the Bexley Bid

Bexley is currently developing a bid to become the London Borough of Culture in 2019 or 2020. An official launch is planned later this year.

ITN have recently launched a ‘snap survey’ asking visitors to their site which borough they personally would like to see made the London Borough of Culture. We would like as many people as possible to visit the site and take the time to vote for Bexley and get behind our #backthebexleybid campaign on Twitter @LBofBexley.

The GLA ‘London Borough of Culture’ opportunity enables all London boroughs to bid for more than £1 million of funding to stage a significant programme of cultural events and initiatives in 2019 or 2020 – that will put the winning borough at the cultural centre of London. The funding will also go toward developing a sustainable plan to make culture a key part of the winning boroughs’ future.

“When we launch our bid later this year we will be working to involve the whole community – and we need your help to make it happen.

“The ITN survey is a fun way to whip-up some friendly competition across the capital, but it’s also a useful way of spreading the word,” says Cllr Peter Craske, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Environment and Leisure. “Taking part in the bid will be a great opportunity for us to showcase the wide range of culture we have on offer here in Bexley.”

The winning borough will have to illustrate its artistic vision and ambition to provide outstanding culture initiatives that have the local community at the centre of their design and delivery.

Please keep an eye out for more opportunities to get involved. We need your support to make Bexley the London Borough of Culture!
