Bexleyheath Improvements - Latest Update
From 13 November for 5 nights Albion Road will be closed between Townley Road and Gravel Hill (except for access to the Shopping Centre and the residential area between Victoria Road and Pincott Road) from 7pm each evening until approximately 3am.
This is to enable the new roundabout at Highland Road to be surfaced, along with the section of Highland Road by the Broadway Square car park. Traffic will not be able to cross Albion Road using Highland Road.
Signed diversions will be in place taking traffic away from Albion Road and along Broadway and Arnsberg Way. Traffic on Highland Road will also be diverted around the closures. Local traffic, where drivers may know the road network, will possibly divert onto adjacent roads to avoid the closures. Access to the Shopping Centre car park will be maintained from Townley Road for late night shopping on Thursday.
Access to the residential areas of Pincott Road, Warren Close and Victoria Road will be from Townley Road roundabout and using the opening in the central median at Pincott Road, near the Magistrates Courts, as has previously been the case. Exit from the area will be via Victoria Road onto Townley Road roundabout as usual but it will not be possible to make a u-turn at the roundabout and return along Albion Road to reach Gravel Hill.
So far as is practical, noisy operations such as removing the existing carriageway surface, sawing and hydraulic breaking out, will be ended by 11pm and other works no later than 2am. The timings of these night works may change depending on weather conditions.
