Bexleyheath improvements - resurfacing works during May
Bexleyheath night resurfacing works 14 May onwards
The highway improvement works along Albion Road and Gravel Hill are almost complete and the contractor is now finishing street lighting, road signs and white lines.
A routine end of works inspection has highlighted some issues with the surface material on the two roundabouts on Albion Road. The road surface will therefore need to be replaced at both Townley Road roundabout and Highland Road roundabout. Repair work will also be taking place on Broadway outside Trinity Church.
The work will start on Monday 14 May and is expected to last a total of six nights. It will take place on weekday nights only from 1900 to 0200. Access to the shopping centre will be maintained for deliveries throughout the work and for late night shopping on Thursday 17 May. During the works access will also be maintained for residents in Pincott Road, Warren Close and Victoria Road although this will vary depending on where work is taking place.
All of this work is weather sensitive. So far as is practical, noisy operations such as removing the existing carriageway surface, sawing and hydraulic breaking out, will be ended by 2300 hours and other works no later than 0200 hours.
London Borough of Bexley apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may result during these improvements. The construction team can be contacted on 0208 303 7777; please ask to speak with a member of the BTCR construction team or email BTCR@bexley.gov.uk
Albion Road (Townley Roundabout) & Broadway works 14, 15, 16 May
The first stage of the resurfacing will take place at the roundabout at Townley Road and last approximately four nights. Townley Road roundabout will be completely closed to traffic for approximately three nights. On the fourth night, 17 May, this work will only affect Townley Road north of the roundabout and will not require closure of the roundabout. When this work is complete resurfacing will then begin at Highland Road roundabout, planned on 17, 18 & 21 May, and will last for approximately three nights.
During the works at Townley Road roundabout there will be signed diversions in place and traffic will be diverted away from Albion Road along Broadway and Arnsberg Way.
Temporary traffic lights will also be in operation at the Trinity Place roundabout to facilitate other work on the Broadway and delays are expected.
Traffic on Townley Road will be diverted around the Albion Road closures. Residents and businesses behind the Premier Inn, who are normally accessed from Royal Oak Road, will continue to have this access. When Townley Road roundabout is closed access will be from the Oaklands (bowling alley) end of Albion Road. Signs will indicate that Albion Road is closed at Townley Road but that access is still possible.
When Townley roundabout is being resurfaced, vehicles leaving Victoria Road will be able to turn right across the central reserve, using the gap, as in an earlier phase of the work. Entry to the residential area will be via Pincott Road as normal.

Albion Road (Highland Roundabout) works 17, 18, & 21 May
Work on the Highland Road roundabout will take place on 17, 18, and 21 May. Entry to the residential area during this time will be via the Townley Road roundabout, turning right through the central reserve into Pincott Road. Exit will be via Victoria Road as normal but when travelling towards Crayford it will not be possible to do a u-turn at Townley roundabout and return along Albion Road. The alternative route will be via Townley Road and Latham Road to reach Gravel Hill. Access will be maintained for shoppers on the night of the 17th although cars leaving the car park will need to cross the central reserve at Pincott Road and return to Townley Road roundabout. There will be no entry to Albion Road car park, however vehicles will be able to exit as normal.
