Fast forward for former Blockbuster store
The home of the former Blockbuster store at 106 Sidcup High Street has been acquired by the London Borough of Bexley as part of its plans to improve the vitality of the town centre.
Despite its strategic location on the main junction in the town centre, the unit has been empty for several years.
“We are very optimistic about the future of Sidcup and believe that developing this unit will help demonstrate how the town can continue to develop in a positive way,” said Cllr Linda Bailey, Cabinet member for Regeneration and Growth.
Thanks to the Council, Sidcup has benefitted from significant investment over recent years. Owners have been helped to upgrade their store fronts, paving and public spaces have been improved and two busy junctions in the town centre have been changed to roundabouts, greatly improving the flow of traffic.
The town has recently secured a Business Improvement District, which is thriving and is working closely with the Council on plans to improve the town centre.
