Bexley residents can enjoy free volunteer-led walks through beautiful green spaces in the borough thanks to WALX in Bexley.
The organisation is putting on free WALX of Wellbeing walks led by volunteers and walk leaders who are first aid qualified.
There are currently three of these walks to enjoy:
- Foots Cray Meadows – Tuesdays at 10am
- Bostall Heath – Wednesdays at 10am
- Danson Park – Thursdays at 10am
The walks offer people the opportunity to make new friends, keep fit and discover new things in and around your neighbourhood.
Walking can also help your heart and lungs work better, keep your weight down, lower your blood pressure, increase good cholesterol, improve your mood and keep your joints, muscles and bones strong.
All walks need to be booked before arrival. Book online by choosing ‘Wellness Open WALX’ in the activities search or download ‘WALX’ - a free mobile app available for Android and iOS.
Since the scheme started in September 2013 the project has grown to over 200 regular walkers. There are six fully qualified Nordic Walking Instructors and 19 volunteer leaders who assist on the walks.
WALX in Bexley offer up to 14 online and outdoors activities a week, as well as quarterly walks out of the borough.
