What is Council Tax
Council Tax is a tax on domestic properties, which helps to pay for local services.
The charge is based on 50% property and 50% people, therefore you could qualify for a discount or exemption from paying Council Tax if you or your property meet the correct criteria.
Every property has its own Council Tax band and is based on property valuations as of 1 April 1991.
Note: Have you received a call, text or email reminder from Council Tax?
This reminder can prevent statutory recovery documents being issued and may help you avoid paying expensive costs and falling further into arrears.
The service may not always be available and should not be relied upon. It is your responsibility to pay instalments due on your account in line with the bill issued.
We are under a duty to protect public funds and may use the information you provide for the prevention and detection of fraud but will not send marketing information or pass your details onto third party marketing companies. We may also share information with bodies responsible for auditing or administering public funds for these purposes.
