A new Local Plan for Bexley

Bexley Local Plan: Preferred approaches to planning policies and land use designations (regulation 18 stage)

The Council is now consulting on the preferred approaches to the matters to be contained within the new Local Plan, and we are inviting local people, businesses, landowners and developers to give their views on the proposed content.

This is a key planning document we aim to update every five years. National Government produces the overarching framework, the Mayor of London produces a London Plan and our own document is third in that hierarchy.

The consultation document (PDF, 14MB) sets out the preferred approaches for strategic and development management policies and the arrangement and designation of land use in the borough.

It proposes an open, transparent and proactive approach to shaping, considering, determining and delivering development proposals in accordance with broad principles set out in the Council’s Growth Strategy. The consultation document has been and will continue to be, shaped by your comments.

After we have consulted, we will look carefully at all the views received, and then publish a Draft Local Plan later in the year. Once adopted, the new Bexley Local Plan, will replace the Bexley Core Strategy and Saved UDP policies 2012.

Feedback can be given by emailing comments to SP&Gteam@bexley.gov.uk with the words ‘Local Plan Reg 18 consultation’ in the subject line. Any comments must reach the Council by Sunday 31 March 2019.

Integrated Impact Assessment Scoping Report

The role of an Integrated Impact Assessment is to promote sustainable development by assessing the extent to which the emerging local plan will help to achieve relevant environmental, economic and social objectives.

The Scoping report (PDF, 3MB) is the first stage of the process and identifies the scope and level of detail of information to be included in the Integrated Impact Assessment Report. An important element of this stage is the development objectives which the emerging local plan is assessed against.

Feedback can be given by emailing comments to SP&Gteam@bexley.gov.uk with the words ‘Local Plan Reg 18 IIA consultation’ in the subject line. Any comments must reach the Council by Sunday 31 March 2019.

Sites of importance for nature conservation (SINCs)

The Local Plan consultation provides an opportunity for land-owners and interested parties to provide comments on the identified SINCs. Further details can be found within Part II of the Local Plan consultation document, under ‘Bexley Environment’, and Conservation, heritage and biodiversity.

Feedback can be given by emailing comments to SP&Gteam@bexley.gov.uk with the words ‘Local Plan Reg 18 SINC consultation’ in the subject line.
