An abandoned vehicle is usually untaxed and in a state of disrepair. It is an offence to abandon a vehicle and the removal of unwanted vehicles significantly reduces car crime and car fires.
Reporting an abandoned vehicle
If you know of a vehicle, which you believe is abandoned, complete the abandoned vehicle form giving as much detail as you can. The vehicle will be inspected and removed subject to satisfactory clearance of statutory legal checks and confirmation it is abandoned.
As of the 1 October 2014, displaying of the tax disc has not been a legal requirement on a vehicle. You can check what information the DVLA holds about a vehicle and to see if a vehicle is taxed. If a vehicle is untaxed but is being driven regularly, or in good condition, please report this to the DVLA.
