Proposed removal of BT payphones

BT has formally notified the Council that it proposes to remove seven public payphones in the borough.

These public payphones are located at:

Abbey Wood

  • outside St Edmund House (near Hurst Lane), Woolwich Road, Abbey Wood SE2 0AW

Belvedere

  • Erith Road/Rutland Gate junction, Belvedere DA17 6HH

Bexley

  • outside 17 Montpelier Avenue, Bexley DA5 3AP

Sidcup

  • Willersley Avenue, near the junction with Marlborough Park Avenue, Sidcup DA15 9EN

Welling

  • adjacent to Shoulder of Mutton Green, Bellegrove Road, Welling, DA16 3RG
  • outside 21 Okehampton Crescent, Welling DA16 1DG
  • Park View Road, near the junction with Sharnbrooke Close, Welling, DA16 1SJ

Consultation notices have been placed on the relevant payphones by BT on 20 June 2023, stating that the Council should be contacted within 90 days of the date on the notice.

The Council will be assessing the proposals against Ofcom guidance and would like to receive your comments:

Responses must be received by 11.59pm on Sunday 17 September 2023.

The Council will then formally respond to BT.
