Bexley Adult Social Care Vision

Your life, your choice – working together towards the life you want

Bexley has developed our Adult Social Care Vision with all of our stakeholders. We have engaged with our staff at all levels, and partners, people who use services and their carers.

It is imperative that the vision should underpin our approach to personalisation, driving forward our focus to give residents more control and choice in how they meet their care and support needs. The vision will provide a framework for services and enable us to monitor and assure the quality of services, in line with what is important to local people.

The Adult Social Care vision will enable us to:

  • understand and articulate the priorities for Adult Social Care
  • shape service delivery and commissioning intentions
  • inform a standard for practice and quality measures
  • drive forward our priorities for personalisation and equality of access to Social Care services and support

As part of delivering our Adult Social Care vision, we have made the following commitments for commissioning:

  • continually review and develop the quality of care and support services and work with people to
    determine what ‘good’ looks like
  • develop resources to proactively support people
  • develop links across communities that support you to connect with real people through real
    relationships in everyday life.
  • we will see beyond your basic needs to understand who you are as a person
  • develop services that deliver support in a range of creative ways that are personalised to you.
  • develop flexible and creative care offers
  • develop the care and support market around your preferences, choices and needs
  • stimulate the market to ensure there is choice
  • work together with local people,  communities and providers to develop opportunities for good quality care and support and community offers
  • listen and respond to what local people are saying and shape the market for care and support
  • facilitate people and providers and communities to come together to coproduce care and support offers within our available resources
  • be the conduit which channels what local people want in to the shape of the care and support market

Working together with people who need our services is at the core of what we do. We also work in partnership with our providers in the voluntary, faith, community, and private sectors to create solutions to meet needs that are responsive, person centred and based on promoting people’s assets and strengths. Our approach is one which puts people who need support at the very centre of everything that happens to them. No decisions are made without considering what a person wants to achieve and considering what outcomes are most important to them.
